![]() ![]() ![]() It most definitely does not have to be this way. I don’t recall a more intense feeling of polarization. Just when we were beginning to make progress toward equity, the Supreme Court of the United States of America legally gutted all policies that may promote the bridging of racial inequality in this country (“Divided Supreme Court outlaws affirmative action in college admissions, says race can’t be used,” June 30). Margo Wixsom, Inverness Continue to call out racial disparities in America How can the editorial board demand the “park involve stakeholders” without citing the recently released public survey? It includes over 5,000 responses, most demanding a return to the mission of “preserving the vanishing seashore and wildlife.” The board appears to give privilege to a few dozen ranch lease “stakeholders.” I think elected officials prefer to turn a blind eye, so as not to upset lobbyists. It’s hard for me to believe that those ranchers have interest in cooperative stewardship. It should be noted that, in the past, some ranchers have earned violations by ignoring lease terms by illegally bulldozing waterways, allowing cattle to overgraze the land, creating toxic dumps and watching as human sewage spills. Since it is true that the park is an important place for all stakeholders, I am writing on behalf of the tule elk.įrom my perspective, the editorial implied that the elk may need to stay fenced in to prevent the spread of disease. I was disappointed by the tone of the recent IJ editorial about the tule elk in Point Reyes National Seashore (“All must be part of discussion to remove Point Reyes elk fence,” June 26). Tara Evans, San Rafael Tone of editorial about elk favored Pt. We must no longer blindly accept and pay for what I believe is a racially biased culture within SRPD, nor can we accept the apparent support of the culture by San Rafael’s elected leaders. The right thing to do is to call on our California Attorney General Rob Bonta to step in and prosecute Nail and Mazariegos to begin the process of healing in our community. If Marin District Attorney Lori Frugoli or members of her staff previously prosecuted those cases, then the DA should not be in the position of prosecuting both Nail and Mazariegos now. ![]() State attorney general should prosecute officersīased on the allegations that official statements by San Rafael police Officer Brandon Nail and former Officer Daisy Mazariegos, made after the brutal Jbeating of Julio Jimenez Lopez were false in nature (“Marin DA: San Rafael police committed assault in Canal arrest,” June 30), I believe that all of their previous arrest reports must be called into question. ![]()
